Chris Hemsworth In Talks To Star In Disney’s “Prince Charming”
Earlier this month, it was revealed that Disney is developing a brand new “Prince Charming” film, which is going to be directed by Paul King, who has previously worked on the popular “Paddington” movies and the latest “Willy Wonka” movie.
It’s been revealed by Deadline that Chris Hemsworth is in talks to star in the title role, though its important to note that Disney hasn’t officially confirmed this information.
Chris Hemsworth is known for his role as Thor in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and he has also appeared in many other movies, including the Netflix “Extraction” movies and, most recently, “Transformers One”. Plus he also has his own Disney+ Original series, “Limitless”, which will return with a new season next year.
No plot details for this new movie have been revealed, nor any details on the project’s tone or setting, such as whether it is a comedy, spoof, or drama.
While Prince Charming appeared in “Cinderella” in the classic Disney films, the name “Prince Charming” is often used in classic Fairy Tales as a prince who comes to the rescue of a damsel in distress or as a term to refer to the idea of a dream man to marry.
The character has also been linked to other classic fairy tales, such as “Snow White,” “Sleeping Beauty,” and “Rapunzel,” where a generic, often unnamed male character just comes in at the last minute to rescue the day. Though in the Disney films, the princes in these movies were given names, such as Prince Phillip and Prince Florian, many people just think of them as “Prince Charming.”
Roger’s Take: As a big Chris Hemsworth fan, I’m looking forward to seeing where this movie’s direction will go, as I don’t think it’ll be a traditional Disney fairytale story.
