The new series will star Connie Britton, who will play the role of Sonny’s single mom, Ellen and the principal of his high school. Connie will also be an executive producer. She has previously starred in “Spin City”, “Friday Night Lights“, “9-1-1”, and “Nashville”.
Drew Goddard‘s Goddard Textiles and 20th Television will create “Phony.” Nick Paley, who previously worked on “Marcel The Shell With Shoes On,” has written, directed, and executive produces the pilot. Other executive producers include Charlie Alderman of Charlie’s Production Company and Drew Goddard and Sarah Esberg via Goddard Textiles. Goddard Textiles’ Andrea Massaro is also a producer on the pilot.
Should this pilot get the go-ahead to a full series, it’ll be released on Hulu and Hulu On Disney+ in the United States and also on Disney+ internationally.
