Chip ‘n’ Dale Rescue Rangers Live Action Movie Coming Soon
One of Disney’s future projects is a live action version of the Disney Afternoon animated series, Chip ‘n’ Dale Rescue Rangers. And according to the Hollywood Reporter, the movie will be directed by Akiva Schaffer. Who is one of the members of Lonely Island, who help create Saturday Night Live. He has also directed Popstar: Never Stop Stopping and the Hulu comedy Pen15.
The movie is set to be produced by David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman, who helped produce The Muppets and Beauty and the Beast. With Louie Provost and Jessica Virtue working as executives on the movie. And Dan Gregor and Doug Mand have written the script.
There have been reports of this movie being made since 2014, but the project has been quiet for years.
Very little is known about the film, but it will feature CGI chipmunks but it might not be an origin story or based on a detective agency. It will also set to be “meta” and will be self-referential.
Its not yet clear if Chip ‘n’ Dale Rescue Rangers will be a Disney+ Original movie or if it will be released in theatres first before coming to Disney+ later. There are many empty slots in the recently announced movie schedule for a new Chip ‘n’ Dale Rescue Rangers film.

I loved Rescue Rangers back in the day, but I have no idea how to feel about this. I'll need to see it in action to judge. I might watch it when it comes out simply to support it in hopes that we'll get a new version of the cartoon show
