Disney has announced the cast for the upcoming British Disney+ Original series, “Playdate”, which will be a five-part thriller produced by Quay Street Productions and Brightstar.
“Playdate”, which is currently the show’s working title, tells the story of Elisa, who’s world is turned upside down when her young daughter Lucia is kidnapped at a sleepover. Who is the mystery woman who took Lucia, and what secrets does she know about Elisa?
The series stars Denise Gough (“Andor”, “Under the Banner of Heaven”), Holliday Grainger (“Strike”, “The Capture”), Ambika Mod (“I Hate Suzie”, “This Is Going to Hurt”), Jim Sturgess (“Cloud Atlas”, “One Day”), Bronagh Waugh (“The Suspect”, “Ridley”), and Michael Workeye (“My Lady Jane”, “This Is Going to Hurt”). The series is adapted by Catherine Moulton (“Baptiste”, “Hijack”) from Alex Dahl’s best-selling novel of the same name, and directed by Eva Husson (“Mothering Sunday”, “Girls of the Sun”, “Hanna”).
The series is executive produced by Nicola Shindler (“Nolly”, “Stay Close”, “It’s A Sin”) for Quay Street Productions; Tanya Seghatchian and John Woodward (“The Power of the Dog”, “Cold War”) for Brightstar; Johanna Devereaux, VP of Scripted Content for Disney+ EMEA; and Alex Dahl, Eva Husson and Catherine Moulton. James Dean (“Better”, “Liar”) will produce.
No release date information has been announced for the show yet, since production has only commenced this summer in the UK and France.
