Just ahead of the debut of the new British comedy series, “Extraordinary”, Disney held a special event in London which was attended by some of the cast and creators.  During this event, Johanna Devereaux, VP of Scripted Content and “Extraordinary” Executive Producer, announced to guests that the comedy series has been greenlit for Season 2, with filming starting later this month.

Creator Emma Moran and series cast Máiréad Tyers, Sofia Oxenham, Bilal Hasna, Luke Rollason, Siobhán McSweeney, Patricia Allison and more were all in attendance at the official UK launch screening at Genesis Cinema, East London. Additional series cast members attending include Ardal O’Hanlon, Robbie Gee and Ned Porteous.

Guests were treated to an exclusive look at the first two episodes of the eight-episode series, launching tomorrow on Disney+. The screening was followed by a Q&A, hosted by broadcaster Angela Scanlon.

Ten years ago, everyone over the age of 18 got their superpower. But Jen, a painfully self-aware 25-year-old woman, is still waiting to get hers. She’d take anything at this point. Adrift in a big, confusing world and armed with nothing but a bit of hope, a lot of desperation and her flatmates, Jen begins her journey to find her maybe-superpower. But in doing so, she might discover the joy of being just kind of ok.

Written by series creator Emma Moran, a stand-out debut writer with an utterly distinctive voice, and directed by Toby McDonald (“Ragdoll”), Jennifer Sheridan (“Rules of the Game”), and Nadira Amrani (“On the Edge”), this is a fresh, innovative comedy about being young and finding your feet in a confusing world, when all you’ll ever be is ‘ordinary’.

“Extraordinary” is executive produced by Sally Woodward Gentle, Lee Morris and Charles Dawson for Sid Gentle Films, the production company behind “Killing Eve”. The series is produced by Charlie Palmer and executive produced by Johanna Devereaux, Vice President, Scripted Content for Disney+.

“Extraordinary” will be the newest Disney+ UK Original series to launch on the platform around the world, in addition to launching on Hulu in the United States and on Star+ in Latin America.
