Best New Movies Coming To Disney+ & Hulu In January 2026
This January, Disney+ and Hulu subscribers will be getting plenty of new original films to watch this month, which include a new documentary from National Geographic and the latest film in the “Tron” franchise, plus new licensed content from Hulu.
Here’s the rundown:
Tron: Ares
Get ready for the electrifying action and adventure of “Tron: Ares”. When a highly sophisticated Program named Ares is sent from the digital world into the real world on a dangerous mission, it marks humankind’s first encounter with AI beings.
The third instalment in the “Tron” franchise, will arrive on Disney+ around the world on January 7th 2026.
The Tale of Silyan
From the Oscar-nominated director of ‘Honeyland’ comes a poignant and visually arresting story set in the heart of rural Macedonia. Nikola, a farmer grappling with the harsh realities of new government policies, finds himself unable to sell his land or crops. When his family leaves in search of a better life abroad, Nikola takes a job as a landfill attendant, where he encounters the injured white stork Silyan. As he nurses the bird back to health, an unlikely bond forms between man and animal. The result is a deeply moving film that touches on climate change, economic migration, resilience and the quiet power of connection.
This new documentary arrives on Disney+ around the world on Friday, 9th January 2026.
Hoops, Hopes & Dreams
The untold story about how Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and a team of civil rights activists took to basketball courts to connect with young voters, and how their strategy echoed in politics through President Obama’s historic campaign.
This short film will be released on Disney+ on January 19th 2026, on Hulu and Hulu On Disney+ in the United States.
Twinless
Two men who lost their respective twin brothers develop a growing friendship after meeting in a support group. However, both harbour long-hidden secrets that threaten to tear them apart.
“Twinless” will be dropping onto Hulu and Hulu On Disney+ in the United States on January 16th 2026.
Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire
This film continues the story of the Spengler family, who return to where it all started – the iconic New York City firehouse – to team up with the original Ghostbusters, who’ve developed a top-secret research lab to take busting ghosts to the next level. But when the discovery of an ancient artifact unleashes an army of ghosts that casts a death chill upon the city, Ghostbusters new and old must join forces to protect their home and save the world from a second Ice Age.
The latest film in the iconic “Ghostbusters” will be released on Hulu and Hulu On Disney+ in the United States on January 22nd 2026.
