Disney has announced that the Searchlight Pictures movie, “Bend It Like Beckham” is coming to Disney+ on Friday, September 18th in the United States.

The movie tells the story of Jess Bhamra, the daughter of a strict Indian couple in London, is not permitted to play organized soccer, even though she is 18. When Jess is playing for fun one day, her impressive skills are seen by Jules Paxton, who then convinces Jess to play for her semi-pro team. Jess uses elaborate excuses to hide her matches from her family while also dealing with her romantic feelings for her coach, Joe.

It stars Parminder Nagra, Keira Knightley and Jonathan Rhys-Meyers.   It was directed by Gurinder Chadha and was released in 2003.

At last years Disney Investor Day, the movie could be seen on a slideshow of new 20th Century Fox movies that would be coming to Disney+ in the future.
