Today, the Television Academy announced the nominations for the 75th Emmy Awards, and Disney has picked up 163 nominations for its shows across its content brands and studios, including ABC, ABC News Studios, Disney Branded Television, Disney+, Disney Television Studios (20th Television Animation, 20th Television, and ABC Signature), FX, FX Productions, Hulu, National Geographic, Onyx Collective, Searchlight Pictures, Searchlight Television, and Walt Disney Studios (20th Century Studios, Lucasfilm Ltd., and Marvel Studios). Disney’s streaming platforms earned a total of 73 nominations, with Disney+ and Hulu receiving 40 and 33 nominations, respectively.

The nominations were revealed during a live virtual ceremony, which Emmy Award-Nominated actress Yvette Nicole Brown and Academy Chair Frank Scherma hosted.

Disney+ has picked up several awards for its originals, including “Andor”, “Hocus Pocus 2”, “Dancing With The Stars”, “The Mandalorian” and “Obi-Wan Kenobi”.    There have also been lots of awards for the Hulu/Star Originals, including “Only Murders In The Building”, “Tiny Beautiful Things”, “Boston Strangler”, “Welcome To Chippendales”, “How I Met Your Father” and “History Of The World – Part 2”.

FX has also had a great year for nominations for its original programming, including “The Bear”, “Fleischman Is In Trouble”, “Welcome To Wrexham”, “The Old Man”, “Dear Mama”, and “What We Do In The Shadows”.   20th Animation also got nominations for “Bob’s Burgers” and “The Simpsons”.

“The Bear” picked up 13 nominations, with “Only Murders in the Building” picking up 11 nominations and “The Mandalorian” was nominated for 9 awards.

This year’s Emmy Awards ceremony is scheduled to be held on September 18th 2023, and broadcast live on Fox, but with the writer’s strike underway and a potential SAG-AFTRA strike, there could be changes to how the awards are presented, since no talent would be available should the Actor’s strike still be underway.
