Amy Sedaris To Star “Oswald The Lucky Rabbit” Disney+ Series
Walt Disney Studios is currently developing a brand-new show for Disney+ based on the classic animated character, “Oswald The Lucky Rabbit”, who was created by Walt Disney and Ubbe Iwerks in 1927, when Disney worked with Universal Pictures.
No plot details on the upcoming project have been revealed yet, but it is going to be an animated/live-action hybrid show, which could be something similar to the classic film, “Who Framed Roger Rabbit” or the recent Disney+ Original film, “Chip ‘n’ Dale Rescue Rangers”.
The show is being written, produced and directed by Jon Favreau, who has previously worked with Disney on “The Mandalorian”, “The Lion King”, “Jungle Book” and “Iron Man”.
Earlier this week, it was revealed that the new “Oswald The Lucky Rabbit” series will star Ravi Cabot-Conyers, Mykal-Michelle Harris and Ryder Allen (The Penguin, Palmer) in the lead roles.
Variety has revealed that Amy Sedaris has joined the cast of the “Oswald The Lucky Rabbit” series, who previously worked with Jon Favreau on “The Mandalorian”, “The Lion King” and “Elf”. Sedaris will play the mother of Ryder Allen’s character, Taylor.
It’s not yet clear when it will arrive on Disney+, but with casting details starting to leak out, it’s likely filming is going to begin soon.
Ever since Disney acquired the rights to the character in 2006 as part of an asset swap with Universal, it has been trying to find the right project for it. We’ve seen Oswald appear in some shorts and in the “Epic Mickey 2” video game. There was even another animated series that was in development many years ago, which was eventually cancelled.
