Jon Favreau’s ‘Oswald The Lucky Rabbit’ Disney+ Series Lead Cast Revealed
Earlier this year it was revealed that Disney is once again looking to its past for a brand new show for Disney+ based on the classic animated character, “Oswald The Lucky Rabbit”.
This new project is going to be an animated/live-action hybrid show, which does sound like it could be something similar to the classic film, “Who Framed Roger Rabbit” or the recent Disney+ Original film, “Chip ‘n’ Dale Rescue Rangers”.
Deadline has revealed the three leads who are going to star in the “Oswald The Lucky Rabbit” series, which includes Ravi Cabot-Conyers, Mykal-Michelle Harris and Ryder Allen (The Penguin, Palmer).
Cabot-Conyers, who previously starred in “Skeleton Crew” and “Encanto”, will play Jake, a hardworking middle school student with a big heart.
Mykal-Michelle Harris will play the role of Jen, an artistic middle schooler who is always ahead of the game. Harris has previously starred in the Disney shows “Raven’s Home” and “Mixed-ish”.
Ryder Allen will be playing Taylor, a middle school student who is cautious but avoids turning down his friends. Ryder has previously starred in “The Penguin” and “Palmer”.
The show is being written, produced and directed by Jon Favreau, who has previously worked with Disney on “The Mandalorian”, “The Lion King”, “Jungle Book” and “Iron Man”.
Walt Disney Studios is behind the show, though no other details about the series, such as the plot or when it will arrive on Disney+, have been announced.
Ever since Disney acquired the rights to the character, it has been trying to find the right project for it. We’ve seen Oswald appear in some shorts and in the “Epic Mickey 2” video game. There was even another animated series that was in development many years ago, which was eventually cancelled.
