“Alien: Earth” Immersive Environment Experience Coming To Disney+ For Meta Quest & Apple Vision Pro Users

In August, Disney is releasing the first-ever series based on the iconic sci-fi franchise, “Alien”, on Hulu and Disney+ around the world.

“Alien: Earth” tells the story of what happens when the mysterious deep space research vessel USCSS Maginot crash-lands on Earth, “Wendy” (Sydney Chandler) and a ragtag group of tactical soldiers make a fateful discovery that puts them face-to-face with the planet’s greatest threat in FX’s “Alien: Earth”. In the year 2120, the Earth is governed by five corporations: Prodigy, Weyland-Yutani, Lynch, Dynamic and Threshold. In this Corporate Era, cyborgs (humans with both biological and artificial parts) and synthetics (humanoid robots with artificial intelligence) exist alongside humans. But the game is changed when the wunderkind Founder and CEO of Prodigy Corporation unlocks a new technological advancement: hybrids (humanoid robots infused with human consciousness). The first hybrid prototype, named “Wendy”, marks a new dawn in the race for immortality. After Weyland-Yutani’s spaceship collides into Prodigy City, “Wendy” and the other hybrids encounter mysterious life forms more terrifying than anyone could have ever imagined.

To promote the upcoming show, Disney has announced some new interactive experiences, including a brand new Immersive Environment experience for Apple Vision Pro users.

“Alien: Earth’s” immersive environment will be available through the Disney+ app on Apple Vision Pro and Meta Quest starting on July 24th 2025.

FX’s Alien: Earth’s Containment Room will be the latest immersive environment available exclusively through Disney+ on Apple Vision Pro. Starting July 24th, subscribers will be able to transport themselves to the alien specimen containment room viewing environment on the USCSS Maginot, allowing them to explore their surroundings via interactive elements and sounds that make the space come to life. Premium bundle subscribers will also be able to stream Alien: Earth (premiering August 12th) via Hulu on Disney+ while immersed in the environment, bringing them closer to the story.

Viewers can step into the story with visual storytelling that offers an unparalleled deep dive into the show’s universe with super-resolution panoramic images. These images are captured at an ultra-realistic level of detail and are designed for Apple Vision Pro and Meta Quest. These images are available now for viewing, with over 30 more to be released throughout the season alongside high-resolution spatial photos that uniquely add depth and realism, transporting users to specific scenes. This innovative approach provides a more engaging way to discover set details, character profiles, and narrative elements. Alien: Earth – The Official Podcast will be offered in spatial video, pairing the audio from each episode with visually rich imagery that immerses the viewer.

Disney has also announced that there will be an official companion podcast called “Alien: Earth – The Official Podcast”, which will launch with a new chapter devoted to each of the series’ eight episodes beginning August 12th 2025.

This new official companion podcast is hosted by Adam Rogers, will feature exclusive in-depth interviews with the show’s creator, cast and crew as well as explore the story elements, go deep on the character motivations and offer an episode-by-episode behind-the-scenes breakdown of each terrifying chapter in this new drama series. Alien: Earth – The Official Podcast will be available on Apple Podcasts, Spotify or wherever podcasts are available, as well as YouTube and on the Hulu and Disney+ series show pages.

“Alien: Earth” will premiere on Tuesday, 12th August 2025, with the first two episodes available to stream on Hulu at 8 p.m. ET and on the FX linear channel at 8 p.m. ET/PT, and on Disney+ internationally. A new episode of the 8-episode season will premiere each following Tuesday on Hulu beginning at 8 p.m. ET and on FX at 8 p.m. ET/PT.

Roger’s Take:   For subscribers with an Apple Vision Pro, I’m sure this will be a nice little gimmick to try out for a few minutes, but it also shows how while Disney is supporting this special device, there hasn’t been any significant updates specifically for a limited number of users for a while.   It’s also great that subscribers on the Meta Quest can also enjoy this nice little gimmick promotional item.
