Just ahead of Disney’s upcoming UpFront event, which takes place next week in New York, where Disney starts selling advertising slots for the upcoming year to advertisers, Disney has confirmed five shows will be returning for more seasons later this year.

“American Idol” will be returning for a new season, marking its 24th season.  The show revolutionised the television landscape by pioneering the music competition genre.  Helping determine who America will ultimately vote to become the next singing sensation are music industry forces and superstar judges.  The latest season, which is currently airing on ABC, features Carrie Underwood, Luke Bryan, and Lionel Richie as judges, with Ryan Seacrest hosting.

It’s also been confirmed that four other unscripted shows will be returning for new seasons, including “Celebrity Jeopardy”, “Celebrity Wheel Of Fortune”, “Shark Tank”, and “America’s Funniest Home Videos“.

“Celebrity Jeopardy” will return for its 4th season and will continue to feature celebrity contestants competing for a chance to win money for a charity of their choice.

“Celebrity Wheel Of Fortune” is returning for its sixth season and is hosted by pop-culture legends Pat Sajak and Vanna White, “Celebrity Wheel of Fortune” welcomes celebrity contestants to spin the world’s most famous Wheel and solve puzzles for a chance to win $1 million for the charity of their choice.

The Sharks – tough, self-made, multimillionaire and billionaire tycoons – continue their search to invest in the best businesses and products that America has to offer. The Sharks will once again give people from all walks of life the chance to chase the American Dream and potentially secure business deals that could make them millionaires.

America’s Funniest Home Videos” is returning for its 36th season, making it the longest-running primetime entertainment show in the history of ABC. Each week, the “AFV” team evaluates thousands of user-submitted home videos to showcase America’s real-life funny moments captured on video.

“Shark Tank” is coming back to ABC this fall for its 17th season. The hit reality show that has become a culturally defining series and inspires a nation to dream bigger has amassed an amazing $11 billion in cumulative retail sales from companies that have appeared on “Shark Tank.”

You can find the latest seasons of “American Idol”, “Celebrity Jeopardy”, “Celebrity Wheel Of Fortune”, “Shark Tank”, and “America’s Funniest Home Videos” available to stream now on Hulu and Hulu On Disney+.  Unfortunately, these shows aren’t made available internationally on Disney+.

Roger’s Take:  It’s not a huge surprise to see ABC renewing these unscripted shows, as they continue to pull in audiences and ultimately are cheaper to produce than scripted drama.
