ABC Orders “Do You Want Kids” Pilot

20th Television is developing a new pilot for ABC called “Do You Want Kids”, which is a new single-camera comedy that will star Rachel Bloom, who has co-written the pilot with her husband, Dan Gregor, who is also a producer on the project.

The new comedy pilot will tell the story of a husband and wife, who in one universe have a baby and the other does not, and the many ways that huge decision alters their lives.

Rachel Bloom has previously starred in “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend “, where she worked with her husband, Dan, who has also worked on many other well known projects including “How I Met Your Mother”, the “Chip ‘n’ Dale: Rescue Rangers” movie for Disney+ and most recently, the new “Naked Gun” movie.

This new pilot is being executive produced with Steven Levitan and Danielle Stokdyk of the 20th TV-based Levitan Productions.

So far this year, ABC has only ordered two pilots, one for “Do You Want Kids” and another for “RJ Decker”, which hopefully means this new project has a good chance of moving forward to getting a series order, especially as ABC are being much more picky in what pilots even get a chance to be made.

As with all pilots, these are generally created as a test to decide if it’s worth investing more time and money into; not all pilots get the go-ahead, and sometimes pilots go through some creative changes in order to continue.   Should the pilot get the go-ahead, we should expect to see it released on ABC and Disney+ at a later date.
