ABC News Studios is developing a new adaptation of the “Scam Goddess” podcast, which was created and hosted by Laci Mosley in 2019.

The podcast keeps listeners updated on current rackets, digs deep into the latest scams, and breaks down historic hoodwinks alongside some of your favourite comedians! It’s like true crime, only without all the death!

In recent weeks, the show has featured singer-songwriter and actor Luke James discussing scam rappers, along with comedian Kyle Kasabian sharing his thoughts on the 2019 case of reality TV stars Todd and Julie Chrisley.

The new adaptation will also be hosted by Laci Mosley, who previously starred in the Netflix film “The Outlaws” and the Paramount+ reboot of “iCarly”. She recently won the Best Overall Host Award at the 2024 iHeart Podcast Awards, and back in 2022, the “Scam Goddess” podcast was named one of Time Magazine’s 10 Best Podcasts of the Year.

The “Scam Godness” brand has continued beyond its initial podcast. A new book, “Scam Goddess: Lessons from a Life of Cons, Grifts, and Schemes,” will be released on September 10th, 2024, and a live show will take place at The Regent Theater on September 22nd.

No other details have been announced by Deadline about the upcoming project, which we should expect to see released on Hulu and Hulu On Disney+ in the United States and on Disney+ around the world.

Roger’s Take: Taking a popular Podcast format and turning it into a TV series sounds like a great idea, especially one that can inform viewers about scams, as trickers continue to evolve, how audiences learn about these scams needs to as well.
