ABC News “State of the Union” Coverage Details Announced

Disney has announced details on ABC News special coverage of the 2026 State of the Union address by President Donald Trump and the Democratic response from Virginia Governor Abigail Spanberger.  The coverage will begin on Tuesday, 24th February 2026 at 9:00-11:00 p.m. EST, on ABC and streaming on  Disney+, Hulu, and ABC News Live.

“World News Tonight” anchor and managing editor David Muir will lead coverage from Washington, D.C., featuring ABC News’ powerhouse political team, including “World News Tonight” Sunday and ABC News Live “Prime” anchor Linsey Davis, chief White House correspondent Mary Bruce, “This Week” co-anchor and chief global affairs correspondent Martha Raddatz, “This Week” co-anchor and chief Washington correspondent Jonathan Karl, chief justice correspondent Pierre Thomas, senior political correspondent Rachel Scott and correspondent Jay O’Brien. Contributors Donna Brazile and Chris Christie, along with former Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy, will provide analysis across platforms.

Muir will anchor a special edition of “World News Tonight with David Muir” from Washington, D.C., on Tuesday, Feb. 24, at 6:30 p.m. EST. “Good Morning America,” “GMA3”, and “This Week with George Stephanopoulos” will have pre- and post-show coverage of the State of the Union.

ABC News Live, ABC News’ 24/7 streaming news channel, will have comprehensive coverage with Davis anchoring “Prime with Linsey Davis” at 7:00 p.m. EST from Washington, D.C., on Monday, Feb. 23, and Tuesday, Feb. 24. Kyra Phillips will anchor a special pre-show on Tuesday starting at 8:00 p.m. EST, followed by network coverage of the State of the Union address and Democratic response. Davis will anchor the post-show from 11:00 p.m. EST to midnight with reporting and analysis from Bruce, Raddatz, Karl, Scott, and Thomas.

ABC News Radio will provide live coverage anchored by national correspondent Steven Portnoy in Washington, D.C., joined by White House correspondent Karen Travers and ABC News’ contributors and experts. ABC News Radio will also provide minute-long “Status Reports” twice every hour before, during and after the address. ABC News’ award-winning daily podcast “Start Here” will have special coverage and analysis on Wednesday, Feb. 25, with ABC News reporters who were in the room for the address.

ABC News Digital will offer a live blog with up-to-the-minute updates, key takeaways of the address and analysis. Coverage will continue the following day with reactions to the speeches.

ABC NewsOne, the affiliate news service of ABC News, will provide coverage with Travers from the White House for a preview of the address and multiplatform reporter Christiane Cordero from Capitol Hill. Political director Averi Harper will also offer an analysis of the speech for ABC stations. NewsOne provides news content and services for more than 200 ABC affiliates and international news partners.
