“ESPN Jeopardy!” Coming Soon To Hulu & Disney+

One of the most popular game shows is Jeopardy!, which sees contestants given clues in the form of answers, and they must respond with the corresponding question.

The show debuted in 1964 and has run for thousands of episodes. The show has been so successful that there have been many spin-offs, including a Celebrity version, which airs on ABC and is available to stream on Hulu and Hulu on Disney+ in the United States.

The next spin-off is going to be called “ESPN Jeopardy!” and is being developed by Sony Pictures Television for Hulu and Disney+. It will be executive-produced by Michael Davies.

This new version will be hosted by Emmy Award-winning Joe Buck, who is the lead play-by-play announcer for Monday Night Football on ESPN and ABC.

“ESPN Jeopardy!” will feature ESPN Talent as contestants, who will represent a charity of their choice in the efforts to win a tournament for a $500,000 grand prize and the title of “ESPN Jeopardy! Champion. They will have to answers and questions will “cover the full spectrum of ESPN content.” The Talent will have “face off to experience the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat in a new arena: the Alex Trebek Stage”.

No premiere date for the new show on Hulu and Disney+ has been announced.

Roger’s Take: With so many different versions of “Jeopardy”, making a sports version sounds like a good expansion of the brand and continues to build out new original content for Hulu/Disney+, though I’m surprised it won’t air on ABC or ESPN. I also expect this show will be only available to stream in the United States, since it will likely only focus on US sports like the NFL, NBA, NHL, NCAA, etc., and none of the other versions generally are released on Disney+ globally.
