Disney Reveals “Lilo & Stitch 2” Release Date
Following the huge box office success of the live-action version of the animated classic, “Lilo & Stitch”, last summer, Disney announced that a sequel, “Lilo & Stitch 2”, was in development.
The original film tells the story of what happens when a lonely girl named Lilo adopts Stitch, an alien “puppy,” Stitch helps to mend Lilo’s broken family — but not without wreaking hilarious havoc on the Hawaiian Islands.
During today’s Annual Shareholder meeting, new Disney CEO Josh revealed that the sequel, “Lilo & Stitch 2” will be heading to cinemas on May 26th, 2028, likely then meaning we will see it available on Disney+ a few months later in the summer of 2028.
No other details on the sequel, such as what it will be about or who will star in it, have been revealed, but hopefully, we will get an update later this year at the D23 event in August, where Disney will outline some of its biggest new releases in the years ahead.
While we wait, the original and live-action version of “Lilo & Stitch”, along with its many spin-offs are available to stream now on Disney+.
Roger’s Take: It shouldn’t come as a huge surprise that Disney has gone for another Memorial Day weekend release date, since the last one did so well there, pulling in over a billion dollars at the box office.
