FX’s “The Bear” To End After Five Seasons
One of the biggest hits from FX over the past few years has been the comedy/drama series, “The Bear”, which stars Jeremy Allen White, Ayo Edebiri and Ebon Moss-Bachrach.
FX’s critically acclaimed series “The Bear” is about food, family and the insanity of the grind. It’s a losing battle every day in the restaurant business, and as Carmy pushes himself harder than ever and demands excellence from his crew, they do their best to match his intensity. Their quest for culinary excellence propels them to new levels and stresses the bonds that hold the restaurant together.
Disney has revealed that production is currently underway on the fifth season of the show, which will likely arrive on Hulu and Disney+ later this year.
However, it looks like this will be the final season, as Deadline has reported that the show will be coming to a close after five seasons.
This decision shouldn’t come as a huge surprise for many reasons, all three of the main actors have broken out since appearing in “The Bear”, with all three going on to star in major movies for Disney including “Inside Out 2”, “Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere” and “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” and the upcoming “Avengers: Doomsday” and “The Mandalorian & Grogu” films.
There had also been rumours that the original plan was for the show to end after four seasons, and that some of the fifth season was shot at the same time as the fourth, due to the main actors’ hectic filming schedule.
Recently, Jamie Lee Curtis shared a post on social media revealing that she’s “finished” on the show, likely in reference to the show coming to a close after five seasons.
FINISHED STRONG! Surrounded by an extraordinary crew and group of writers and producers and scene partners on the show that Chris Storer created, completing the story of this extraordinary family that we have all fallen in love with. Got to finish it out with my baby Berzatto bear,
FX’s “The Bear” was created by Christopher Storer, who serves as Executive Producer alongside Josh Senior, Joanna Calo, Cooper Wehde, Tyson Bidner, Matty Matheson, Hiro Murai and Rene Gube. Courtney Storer serves as a Co-Executive Producer and Culinary Producer. The series is produced by FX Productions.
The first four seasons of “The Bear” are available to stream now on Hulu and Hulu On Disney+ in the United States and on Disney+ internationally.
Roger’s Take: Most shows don’t get to end on their own terms, but after five seasons, “The Bear” has had an incredible run. With all of the actors moving on to having successful movie careers since the success of “The Bear”, I think it’s a good decision to bring the show to a close, but to do it with a proper ending that leaves fans happy.
