Disney Greenlights New “Phineas And Ferb” Movie

Just ahead of the release of new episodes of the fifth season of “Phineas and Ferb”, Disney has announced that they have greenlit a third movie featuring the iconic duo, which will be coming soon to Disney+ and the Disney Channel.

This new film tells the story of what happens when Dr. Doofenshmirtz’s latest time‑travel experiment backfires, erasing the moment Phineas’ mom meets Ferb’s dad — meaning the boys never become brothers and every day is merely adequate. As reality unravels and the future hangs in the balance, Phineas and Ferb must restore the timeline before it’s too late.

The third film is set to begin production later this year, though no release window has been announced yet.

Co-creators Dan Povenmire and Jeff “Swampy” Marsh will return once again to create this new film, along with writers Kate Kondell and Jeff Howard, director Bob Bowen and producer Brandi Young.

The cast for the upcoming film have been revealed, with Vincent Martella returning as Phineas Flynn, David Errigo Jr. as Ferb Fletcher, Ashley Tisdale as Candace Flynn, Caroline Rhea as Linda Flynn-Fletcher, Alyson Stoner as Isabella Garcia-Shapiro, Maulik Pancholy as Baljeet, Bobby Gaylor as Buford, Dee Bradley Baker as Perry the Platypus, Dan Povenmire as Dr. Heinz Doofenshmirtz, and Jeff Marsh as Major Francis Monogram.

Ayo Davis, president of Disney Branded Television, said in a statement regarding the new film:

“‘Phineas and Ferb’ is built on imagination, heart and humor, where the unexpected is always part of the fun.  This movie gives Dan and Swampy the chance to stretch that world even further and play with what happens when everything gets turned on its head.”

Dan and Jeff also added:

“We’ve always wanted to explore a story centered on family and unconditional love, preferably in a way that’s bold and sentimental yet classically funny.  We’re grateful to Ayo and her team for giving us the runway to expand Danville and take these characters to a whole new level.”

This will be the third film in the franchise, following “Phineas and Ferb: Across the 2nd Dimension” in 2011 and “Phineas and Ferb the Movie: Candace Against the Universe” in 2020.

“Phineas and Ferb” returned last year for a fifth season and has become one of the most-streamed shows on Disney+, pulling in over 600 million minutes viewed and a total of 12.8 billion hours watched across linear and streaming.

Disney has also released a new poster for the “Phineas and Ferb” movie:

The previous “Phineas and Ferb” seasons, along with both movies, are available to stream now on Disney+.

Roger’s Take:  It’s not a huge surprise to see Disney is taking advantage of this popular franchise, as it continues to pull in viewers, both new and old alike, making it an easy win for Disney+.
