‘The Devil In My DMs’ Coming Soon To Disney+
Disney has announced a brand new true-crime original documentary series called ‘The Devil in my DMs’, which will explore the dark intersection of social media and crime, following four distinctive stories where an online interaction becomes the breeding ground for shocking real-life crime.
This new four-part Hulu original series is the latest addition to the UK slate and will mark the division’s first foray into true-crime.
“The Devil in my DMs” is produced by Lightbox, the production company founded by two-time Academy Award-winner Simon Chinn and Emmy Award-winner Jonathan Chinn, which is behind Disney+ Original series “Camden” and the Critics’ Choice award-winning National Geographic documentary “Hurricane Katrina: The Race Against Time”.
“The Devil in my DMs” has been commissioned by Sean Doyle, executive director of Unscripted, Disney+. The executive producers are Suzanne Lavery (‘Sophie: A Murder in West Cork’, ‘The Diamond Heist’), Simon Chinn (‘Man on Wire’, ‘Searching for Sugar Man’), and Jonathan Chinn (‘LA92’, ‘TINA’), with Toby Trackman (‘Camden’) serving as lead director.
No other details on this upcoming documentary series have been revealed yet, such as when it will be released, but hopefully, it won’t be too long until it’s released on Disney+.
Roger’s Take: It’s great to see the UK division is still committed to creating new original programming for Disney+ and the concept of the dark side of social media will appeal to a global audience, especially with the intrigue of how it involves criminal activities.
