“Alien: Earth” Racks Up Millions Of Views On Hulu & Disney+

Last week, Disney released the first two episodes of a brand new sci-fi show based on the iconic 20th Century Studios franchise, “Alien”, called “Alien: Earth”, on Hulu and Disney+ around the world.

The show tells the story of what happens when a mysterious deep space research vessel USCSS Maginot crash-lands on Earth, “Wendy” and a ragtag group of tactical soldiers make a fateful discovery that puts them face-to-face with the planet’s greatest threat in FX’s “Alien: Earth.”

In the year 2120, the Earth is governed by five corporations: Prodigy, Weyland-Yutani, Lynch, Dynamic and Threshold. In this Corporate Era, cyborgs (humans with both biological and artificial parts) and synthetics (humanoid robots with artificial intelligence) exist alongside humans. But the game is changed when the wunderkind Founder and CEO of Prodigy Corporation unlocks a new technological advancement: hybrids (humanoid robots infused with human consciousness). The first hybrid prototype named “Wendy” marks a new dawn in the race for immortality. After Weyland-Yutani’s spaceship collides into Prodigy City, “Wendy” and the other hybrids encounter mysterious life forms more terrifying than anyone could have ever imagined.

It’s been revealed that the show has had a strong debut on Hulu and Disney+, pulling in 9.2 million views worldwide through its first six days of streaming. Disney calculates the views by dividing the total amount of time streamed by the runtime of the episode.

The show will have actually pulled in more viewership, as the show also aired on the FX linear channel in the United States, which isn’t included in that data.

By comparsion, “The Acolyte” pulled in 11.1 million views in its first five days of being available, “ZOMBIES 4: Dawn Of The Vampires” pulled in 9.3 million views in the first ten days and “Agatha All Along” also pulled in 9.3 million views within the first seven days.

or context, some of the more recent performances that Disney has touted include the first episode of Agatha All Along‘s 9.3M views in the first seven days of availability. The Acolyte hit 11.1M views in five days, and Zombies 4 reached 9.3M views in 10 days.

“Alien: Earth” stars Sydney Chandler (“Pistol”), Timothy Olyphant (“Kirsh”), Alex Lawther (“Hermit”), Samuel Blenkin (“Boy Kavalier”), Babou Ceesay (“Morrow”), Adrian Edmondson (“Atom Eins”), David Rysdahl (“Arthur Sylvia”), Essie Davis (“Dame Sylvia”), Lily Newmark (“Nibs”), Erana James (“Curly”), Adarsh Gourav (“Slightly”), Jonathan Ajayi (“Smee”), Kit Young (“Tootles”), Diêm Camille (“Siberian”), Moe Bar-El (“Rashidi”) and Sandra Yi Sencindiver (“Yutani”).
