Marvel’s “Zombies” To Get Early Disney+ Release

Disney has announced that it’s bringing forward the Disney+ streaming release date for Marvel’s next animated project, “Marvel Zombies”, which is a multi-verse story that is a spin-off from the Zombie episode of Marvel’s “What If?”.

The show will tell the story of what happened after the Avengers are overtaken by a zombie plague, a desperate group of survivors discover the key to bringing an end to the super-powered undead, racing across a dystopian landscape and risking life and limb to save their world.

“Marvel Zombies” features an all-star cast, which includes Awkwafina, David Harbour, Simu Liu, Elizabeth Olsen, Randall Park, Florence Pugh, Hailee Steinfeld, Dominique Thorne, Iman Vellani, and Todd Williams.  Bringing together many of the biggest names in Marvel, so we will get new adventures with Ms Marvel, Ironheart, Scarlet Witch, Kate Bishop and Shang-Chi.

This new series has been directed by executive producer Bryan Andrews and written by executive producer Zeb Wells.   The show’s executive producers include Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, Brad Winderbaum, Dana Vasquez-Eberhardt, Zeb Wells, and Bryan Andrews.

Expect to see more details on “Marvel Zombies”, such as a trailer, to be revealed soon.

Originally, the show was going to arrive on Disney+ on October 3rd 2025, in time for Halloween, but now it will arrive just a little earlier, on Wednesday, 24th September 2025.

Roger’s Take: “Marvel Zombies” was announced during Disney+ Day in 2021, and this feels like one of the last remaining “Chapek” era projects, which has taken a long time to finally arrive.  Marvel is going through a major slowdown in new releases, and barring new seasons of “Your Friendly Neighbourhood Spider-Man” and “X-Men ’97”, we probably won’t see too many more animated projects that aren’t aimed at preschoolers for a while.

Personally, I’m really looking forward to this new series, since the Zombie episode was my favourite from the entire three seasons of “What If?” and this show will be very unique, offering something we just could never see made in live-action, as the costs would be so high and I’m not sure the world is ready for a Rated R version of the Avengers as zombies!
