20th Television Developing Remake Of Japanese “Rebooting” Series
20th Television is developing a brand new comedy show called “Last Second Chance,” which is based on the Japanese series, “Rebooting”.
The Japanese version of the show is about a mundane woman called Asami Kondo, age 33, who is single, lives with her parents, and works at the local city hall. Suddenly, she gets a second chance at life as she has to start her life all over again. She finds herself lying on an Ob-Gyn bed. Next to her are her parents, both young. Asami’s second go at life has just begun.
With her second chance around, she must change her ways and prevent her own murder, which raises bigger questions about whether change is possible or if everything is predetermined.
The new show aired on the Japanese Nippon TV channel back in 2023, and according to Deadline, it will be executive-produced by Corey Nickerson, who previously worked on “Black-ish”, “Don’t Trust The B In Apartment 23”, and “Scrubs”. Corey is writing the new version with Nahnatchka Khan, who is also directing the project. Nahnatchka previously worked on “Don’t Trust The B In Apartment 23” and “Fresh Off The Boat”, with his production company Fierce Baby also creating the show.
Rideback, who was behind the recent live-action version of “Lilo & Stitch”, brought the project to Disney and the companies, Jonathan Eirich, Jonathan Gabay and Michael LoFaso, and Robert Leger will produce along with Fierce Baby’s Jennifer Carreras.
No other details on the upcoming project have been revealed, such as when it released on Hulu/Disney+ or who will star in it.
