20th Television Developing New Medical Drama “Vital Signs”
20th Television is developing a new media drama called “Vital Signs”, which is being created by Brian Tanen, who previously worked on “Grand Hotel”, “Love, Victor”, “Desperate Housewives” and “Devious Maids”.
The project was attracting multiple offers, with ABC getting hold of the project, which will also be developed by Kapital Entertainment.
“Vital Signs” has been described by Deadline as a reinvention of the medical show that asks: what if your favourite TV escape became your reality?
Its heroine, Emmy Correll, is in a rut. She wishes her dull, disappointing life was more like her favourite medical drama, “Vital Signs” – where the characters are life-saving heroes with endlessly exciting love lives. But when Emmy’s wish comes true, and she is transported INTO the show, she must confront whether this new life is what she truly wants. Waking up in a TV show is disorienting! Especially because, in this world, Emmy is apparently a newly hired doctor. But once she gets over the shock, she realizes she’s seen every episode; and she knows what’s going to happen. And that means here, in this world, she’s kind of a genius.
It will be executive produced by Kapital’s Aaron Kaplan. Dylan Hammalian oversees for Kapital.
With the project still in early development, it’s unclear when filming will begin or when it might be released on ABC, Hulu and Disney+.
