20th Television Developing “Devil’s Ranch” For ABC
20th Television is developing a brand new miltary procedural drama series for ABC called “Devil’s Ranch”, which is being created by Rebecca Murga, who is behind the hit series, “Will Trent”, along with Apple TV+’s “Swagger”.
“Devil’s Ranch” follows a group of ex-military personnel who operate a ranch on the Texas-Mexico border by day and conduct various missions across the globe by night.
ABC acquired the project following a pitch from Rebecca, who is writing the series, and the showrunner for the series will be Hedi Cole McAdams, who previously worked on the Hulu Original series, “Death And Other Details”, “The 100” and “Stumptown”. McAdams has an overall deal with 20th Television.
Murga will also be an executive producer on the show, along with Trevor Engelson for Underground, with Underground’s Diego Rey serving as co-executive producer.
No other details for the project have been revealed by Deadline, such as when this series might begin filming or get released. Since it’s being developed by ABC, should this show get the go-ahead, we will likely see it air on the ABC channel in the United States before going to Hulu and Hulu On Disney+, while internationally, it would be a Star Original on Disney+.
Roger’s Take: ABC is constantly on the lookout for new potential long-running shows, and with so many emergency services shows like “9-1-1” and “Grey’s Anatomy”, this new “Devil’s Ranch” series could offer something slightly different, while also appealing to a large audience.
