20th Century Studios Picks Up Matt Venne’s “Test Drive”
Disney’s 20th Century Studios has picked up rights to an original action spec called “Test Drive”, which has been written by Matt Venne and will be produced by Safehouse Pictures’s Joby Harold and Tory Tunnell.
No plot details for this story have been revealed, but it’s been reported by Deadline that 20th Century Studios won a competitive auction to get the rights for the script, worth seven figures. The auction was apparently very intense, which is rare, and this hopefully will translate to a great film.
Matt Venne has previously worked on the “Cruel Summer” series, Shudder’s “Creepshow”, “Bag Of Bones” and “Dexter: Resurrection“.
Currently no talent or directors have been connected to the project, so it might be a while until we see it hit our screens. With the high cost of the bidding process, I’d expect this film to get a theatrical release, rather than being released directly onto Disney+/Hulu.
