20th Century Studios is developing a brand new “Alien” film, which is going to be written and directed by Fede Alvarez, who has previously directed “Evil Dead”, “Don’t Breathe”, and “The Girl in the Spider’s Web”.

The new “Alien” film will be released directly onto Disney’s streaming services, on Hulu in the United States, on Star+ in Latin America and on Disney+ internationally in countries such as the UK, Canada and Australia.  Following a similar path to the upcoming “Predator” film, “Prey”, which will be released this summer on Disney’s streaming services.

This new “Alien” film will be produced by Ridley Scott, who previously directed the original movie from 1970 and the most recent instalment in the franchise, “Alien: Covenant”.

Ridley Scott is also currently working with Disney’s FX on a brand new “Alien” series, which will be released on Hulu and Disney+ internationally.

THR is reporting that Fede Alvarez pitched the idea to Ridley Scott a few years ago and the idea remained implanted on Ridley’s brain until late last year, when he called Alvarez to see if he was still up for doing the project.

20th Century Studios president Steve Asbell said they picked up the project

“purely off the strength of Fede’s pitch. It was just a really good story with a bunch of characters you haven’t seen before.”

Very little is currently known about this new “Alien” film, but it will be separate from the existing movies.

Many of the “Alien” films are currently available to watch on Disney+ internationally.
