“20/20: The Girl Who Looked Like Me” Coming Soon To ABC, Hulu & Hulu On Disney+
Disney has announced details on the next upcoming “20/20” episode, which will be called “The Girl Who Looked Like Me”, which tells the story of the disappearance of young singer, Tamika Huston.
In this “20/20” episode, it reports on the case of a 24-year-old singer who went missing and had friends, family — and the community — searching for answers. Co-anchor Deborah Roberts investigates the disturbing details of her disappearance and shares never-before-seen police interviews.
Tamika Huston was a vibrant 24-year-old from Spartanburg, South Carolina, but when friends and family suddenly couldn’t reach her for an extended period, they became concerned and called the local police for a welfare check. Upon entering Tamika’s home, police discover her dog hungry and emaciated, triggering an urgent search by the police and Tamika’s family. Her aunt Rebkah Howard, a well-connected public relations maven, tries to get national news outlets to cover Tamika’s disappearance, but she finds little success in gaining their attention. Frustrated, Rebkah and those close to Tamika felt this case was emblematic of “missing white woman syndrome,” a term used to highlight the stark disparity in media coverage between missing white women and women of color.
A local woman says she had a vision and offers to help authorities find Tamika. Police finally receive a break in the case when they discover Tamika’s car abandoned. Inside the car, they locate a set of keys, ultimately unlocking the mystery behind Tamika Huston’s disappearance.
“20/20” features interviews with actress and activist Erika Alexander, host and creator of “Finding Tamika,” an Audible original series on the case; Tamika’s family members, including her aunt Rebkah Howard and sister Antonia Huston; Zelda Teamer, Tamika’s best friend; Terence Moss, Tamika’s former boyfriend; Maj. Steve Lamb and Detective Ed Guthro of the Spartanburg Police Department; Fox News host Trey Gowdy, who was the Solicitor in the case; and Charlamagne tha God, radio personality and executive producer of “Finding Tamika.”
This new episode airs on ABC on Friday, 26th September 2024, at 9 pm, and it will be available the next day on Hulu and Hulu On Disney+. Many previous “20/20” episodes are also available to stream now on Hulu and Hulu On Disney+.
