“20/20 Britain’s Most Notorious Crime Investigations” Coming Soon To Disney+ & Hulu
Disney has announced details on the international expansion of the popular ABC News documentary series, “20/20”, with a new series consisting of six episodes.
Each 40-minute episode revisits a renowned British case — including Ben Needham, Joanna Yeates, Ben Field, Mahek Bukhari, Jane Andrews and Peter Tobin — with exclusive interviews and fresh revelations taking viewers beyond the headlines to the heart of the story.
Here are the details on the episodes in this new series:
- “Ben Needham: Lost in Paradise” (Episode 1): A Greek paradise becomes hellish after a British toddler vanishes without a trace. Their search leads his family into the murky world of child-trafficking, suspected burial sites and a prison confession – but can they discover the truth?
- “Joanna Yeates: The Killer Next Door” (Episode 2): On a frozen Bristol night, a missing young woman’s walk home is captured on flickering CCTV. When her body is found, the hunt for a killer turns a quiet street into a labyrinth of suspicion, where the most dangerous person may be the one living next door.
- “Ben Field: Thou Shalt Not Kill” (Episode 3): The suspicious deaths of two elderly neighbors draw attention to a charming young churchwarden. When investigators uncover his attempts to use romance and religion to seduce them into signing over their estates, a race begins to discover whether he is a killer.
- “Peter Tobin: A Monster In Their Midst” (Episode 4): When the murder of a young woman points police to a quiet church handyman, detectives uncover a serial killer hidden in plain sight for decades, linked to multiple killings across the U.K.
- “Jane Andrews: The Duchess & The Killer” (Episode 5): The British Royal Family is linked to scandal when a former aide goes on the run after her boyfriend is murdered. When police find her, she makes explosive allegations of abuse by him. Police delve into the couple’s secrets to ask if she murdered in cold blood?
- “Mahek Bukhari: The TikTok Murders” (Episode 6): A chilling 999 call captures two men in their final moments during a deadly high-speed car chase. CCTV leads police to a viral mother-daughter TikTok duo, exposing dark family secrets, a deadly ambush plot and a ruthless obsession with image.

Roger’s Take: “20/20” has been one of the most popular and long-running documentary shows on ABC, and it makes sense for Disney to start expanding that franchise out globally. There are plenty of true-crime stories to be told outside the US, and no doubt, audiences around the world will be interested to hear them. Plus, it also helps boost locally made content and gives subscribers an opportunity to learn more about British crime.
