One of the most commonly asked question we’ve had on social media and on our Facebook group this week, has been “When is ZOMBIES 2 going to be on Disney+?”.
The good news is that all new Disney Channel content will be coming to Disney+, but Unfortunately Disney hasn’t yet officially announced when ZOMBIES 2 will be available on Disney+. This is because all the Disney Channel Original content that premieres on the channel, is exclusive to the Disney Channel and DisneyNOW app for a limited period.
New Disney Channel shows have been arriving on Disney+, one month after the entire series has aired on the channel. However with Disney already releasing it’s March release schedule for Disney+, which didn’t include ZOMBIES 2.
Both of the Disney Channel Original movies from 2019, Kim Possible and Descendants 3 have been released on Disney+. Kim Possible was released in February and available on Disney+ at launch, with Descendants 3 released in August 2nd 2019, before hitting Disney+ 6 months later in February 2nd 2020.
Earlier this month on Valentine’s Day, the Disney Channel released a brand new Original movie, ZOMBIES 2, which went onto pull in 2.46 million viewers for its premiere. Which is the highest rating premiere so far this year on the Disney Channel, but it’s also the lowest rated premiere for a Disney Channel movie ever. This is because so many viewers are watching on catchup or via the DisneyNOW app. The other big issue is that the Disney Channel has lost millions of subscribers due to a change in viewers habits with on demand technology, which is why Disney+ was created and the channel has also seen a big drop in viewing numbers since Disney+ launched.
Again, Disney hasn’t confirmed a Disney+ release date, but going off what we’ve seen since Disney+ launched, if ZOMBIES 2 takes the same amount of time to hit Disney+, it could be August 2020.
Hopefully it’s added to Disney+ sooner, but it’s best to expect a bit of a wait.
The first ZOMBIES movie is available to stream on Disney+ now.
