Today sees the release of the 2019 version of Disney’s “The Lion King”, on Disney+ in the United States and Canada.

The new version of “The Lion King” broke records as it grossed over $1.6 billion worldwide at the box office and was at one point, the highest-grossing animated film of all-time (even though Disney won’t admit it’s an animated movie).  It is also the second highest-grossing film of 2019, just behind Avengers: Endgame, which is also on Disney+.

And it was released in cinemas in the US on July 19th 2019, so it has taken 193 days from it’s initial release before it’s been made available on Disney+.

Check out the trailer below:

Simba idolizes his father, King Mufasa, and takes to heart his own royal destiny. But not everyone in the kingdom celebrates the new cub’s arrival. With help from a curious pair of newfound friends, Simba will have to figure out how to grow up and take back what is rightfully his.

The film stars the voices of Donald Glover, Seth Rogen, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Alfre Woodard, Billy Eichner, John Kani, John Oliver, Beyoncé Knowles-Carter and James Earl Jones
