This coming Star Wars Day, which takes place on May 4th 2024, if you’re looking to celebrate, Disney+ has all of the Star Wars films and shows available to watch, and here are some of my suggestions of what to watch.

Here’s the rundown:

Star Wars: Tales Of The Empire

“Star Wars: Tales of the Empire” is a six-episode journey into the fearsome Galactic Empire through the eyes of two warriors on divergent paths, set during different eras. After losing everything, young Morgan Elsbeth navigates the expanding Imperial world toward a path of vengeance, while former Jedi Barriss Offee does what she must to survive a rapidly changing galaxy. The choices they make will define their destinies.

This new series of shorts arrives on Disney+ on Star Wars Day, so it is the perfect choice for fans of the franchise.

Star Wars: The Phantom Menace

This year marks the 25th anniversary of the release of “Star Wars: The Phantom Menace”, and Disney has re-released the movie in cinemas for a limited time, so if you haven’t seen the movie on the big screen before or just want an excuse to watch the antics of Jar Jar again, you can head to your nearest cinema or stay at home and watch it at home on Disney+.

See the first fateful steps in the journey of Anakin Skywalker. Stranded on the desert planet Tatooine after rescuing young Queen Amidala from the impending invasion of Naboo, Jedi apprentice Obi-Wan Kenobi and his Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn discover nine-year-old Anakin, a young slave unusually strong in the Force. Anakin wins a thrilling Podrace and with it his freedom as he leaves his home to be trained as a Jedi. The heroes return to Naboo, where Anakin and the Queen face massive invasion forces, and the two Jedi contend with a deadly foe named Darth Maul. Only then do they realize the invasion is merely the first step in a sinister scheme by the re-emergent forces of darkness known as the Sith.

Star Wars: A New Hope

Personally, if I’m only going to watch one movie on Star Wars Day, I go all the way back to the original that started it all and is still, without doubt, my favourite movie, not just of the franchise but probably of every movie I’ve ever seen.   And if you’re completely brand new to Star Wars, this is the place to start.

The film tells the story of Luke Skywalker, who begins a journey that will change the galaxy in Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope. Nineteen years after the formation of the Empire, Luke is thrust into the struggle of the Rebel Alliance when he meets Obi-Wan Kenobi, who has lived for years in seclusion on the desert planet of Tatooine. Obi-Wan begins Luke’s Jedi training as Luke joins him on a daring mission to rescue the beautiful Rebel leader Princess Leia from the clutches of Darth Vader and the evil Empire.

Star Wars: The Bad Batch

This past week, Disney released the extended season finale of “Star Wars: The Bad Batch,” which concludes the entire show.  In the third season, the Batch will have their limits tested in the fight to reunite with Omega as she faces challenges of her own inside a remote Imperial science lab. With the group fractured and facing threats from all directions, they will have to seek out unexpected allies, embark on dangerous missions, and muster everything they have learned to free themselves from the Empire.
