The Guardians of the Galaxy return to save the day, yet again. A new parody series teaches viewers how NOT to draw their favorite Disney characters. Marshal Raylan Givens continues his investigation to take down the Oklahoma Madman. And a live music festival can be streamed live on Hulu.

GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 3

In Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 our beloved band of misfits are settling into life on Knowhere. But it isn’t long before their lives are upended by the echoes of Rocket’s turbulent past. Peter Quill, still reeling from the loss of Gamora, must rally his team around him on a dangerous mission to save Rocket’s life—a mission that, if not completed successfully, could quite possibly lead to the end of the Guardians as we know them.

The Guardians have brought joy to Marvel fans in two previous films, two appearances in Avengers films and an extended cameo in the latest Thor film. I can’t wait to see what they add in the third film.

FARM DREAMS

“Farm Dreams” is a six-part documentary series following farmer/forager Indy Officinalis as she connects aspiring farmers with experts in order to help them live out their dream of living in nature on their own terms. More than just an exploration into the worlds of homesteading, aqua, micro, rooftop and indoor farming, hers is a journey of farmers helping farmers.

If you are in to farming, this might be the docuseries for you. The previews certainly look interesting from a farming and foraging perspective.

STAR WARS: THE YOUNG JEDI ADVENTURES

Set during The High Republic era, the animated series follows Jedi Younglings as they study the ways of the Force and learn valuable skills needed to become Jedi. The series was recently nominated for a 2023 Television Critics Association Award and was awarded a Common Sense Seal from Common Sense Media, which acknowledges outstanding media that families can enjoy together.

This is a cute series that can serve as an early age entry into Star Wars. Six more episodes are now available on Disney+

HOW NOT TO DRAW

“How NOT to Draw” is a short drawing tutorial parody series where animators bring beloved Disney characters to life, and the characters are given chaos that the animator(s) bring upon them.

This series of shorts looks like a lot of fun for those who love animation and love to see how their favorite characters are brought to life. There are five shorts available on Disney+.

RIO 2

After moving out of Rio de Janeiro, Blu, Jewel and their children try to cope with the new surroundings in the Amazon. But Blu encounters the revengeful Nigel who further complicates the situation.

The sequel to one of Blue Sky Studios most popular films makes it way to Disney+ in the US.

RESERVATION DOGS

This season, the Rez Dogs find themselves stranded in Cali and have to figure out their way back home. After making it back to Okern, Elora considers the idea of college, Bear comes across a conspiracy theorist named “Maximus” (Graham Greene), Willie Jack grows more invested in healing her community and Cheese, well, he still lives with his grandmother who’s not his grandmother. Meanwhile, the aunties, uncles and elders explore their pasts and try to heal old wounds. We learn more about tribal cop “Big” (Zahn McClarnon); cannabis-loving “Brownie” (Gary Farmer); physics-obsessed “Bucky” (Wes Studi); the enigmatic “Deer Lady” (Kaniehtiio Horn); Bear’s mom “Rita” (Sarah Podemski) and her cousin “Teenie” (Tamara Podemski); Willie Jack’s dad “Leon” (Jon Proudstar); Daniel’s mom “Hokti” (Lily Gladstone); medicine man “Old Man Fixico” (Richard Ray Whitman); junkyard prophet “Kenny Boy” (Kirk Fox); gum-smacking “Bev” (Jana Schmieding); and ride-less rap duo “Mose” (Lil Mike) and “Mekko” (FunnyBone).

DEMONS AND SAVIORS

The three-part series “Demons and Saviors” tells the remarkable story of Christina Boyer– once infamously known as the “poltergeist girl,” now a woman convicted of murdering her three-year-old daughter. Thirty years into a life sentence, Christina still proclaims her innocence. The series follows a group of amateur sleuths who have become consumed by their obsession to exonerate her. Exploring Christina’s troubled upbringing, her alleged telekinetic abilities, and the questions that remain about the death of her daughter, “Demons and Saviors” investigates what is the conspiracy and what is the truth.

BREEDERS

It’s five years since we last saw the Worsley family, caught up in the dramatic events at the end of season three — “Paul” (Martin Freeman) and “Ally” (Daisy Haggard) on the verge of splitting up, “Jim” (Alun Armstrong) and “Jackie” (Joanna Bacon) in turmoil, “Luke” finding a new relationship and “Ava” mending an old one. Season four of Breeders brings the biggest parenting challenge that Paul and Ally have ever faced, as 18-year-old Luke (Oscar Kennedy) drops a bombshell at Christmas dinner that will change everyone’s lives forever. No longer in Luke’s shadow, 16-year-old Ava (Zoë Athena) experiences her own bombshell moment as she meets and immediately falls for the charismatic “Holly” (Jessie Williams). Paul and Ally continue to try, fail and try again as they face these latest parenting challenges, while also having to support the increasingly troubled Jim and Jackie.

JUSTIFIED: CITY PRIMEVAL

Having left the hollers of Kentucky 15 years ago, Raylan Givens now lives in Miami, a walking anachronism balancing his life as a U.S. Marshal and part-time father of a 15-year-old girl. His hair is grayer, his hat is dirtier, and the road in front of him is suddenly a lot shorter than the road behind. A chance encounter on a desolate Florida highway sends him to Detroit. There he crosses paths with Clement Mansell, aka The Oklahoma Wildman, a violent, sociopathic desperado who’s already slipped through the fingers of Detroit’s finest once and aims to do so again. Mansell’s attorney, formidable Motor City native Carolyn Wilder, has every intention of representing her client, even as she finds herself caught between cop and criminal, with her own game afoot as well. These three characters set out on a collision course in classic Elmore Leonard fashion, to see who makes it out of the City Primeval alive.

FUTURAMA

After a brief 10-year hiatus, “Futurama” has crawled triumphantly from the cryogenic tube, its full original cast and satirical spirit intact. The 10 all-new episodes of season 11 have something for everyone. New viewers will be able to pick up the series from here, while long-time fans will recognize payoffs to decades-long mysteries – including developments in the epic love story of Fry and Leela, the mysterious contents of Nibbler’s litter box, the secret history of evil Robot Santa, and the whereabouts of Kif and Amy’s tadpoles. Meanwhile there’s a whole new pandemic in town as the crew explores the future of vaccines, bitcoin, cancel culture, and streaming TV.

SYNDUALITY NOIR

The year is 2222. It has been years since Tears of the New Moon, a mysterious rain, poured and wiped out almost the entire human race. The poisonous rain gave birth to deformed creatures devouring humans, and humanity fled from the danger. As means for survival, the humans then build an underground haven; Amasia. In this newly built dystopian city, in a pursuit of maintaining their existence, they run into an Artificial Intelligence named Magus. Not knowing how things will work between them, the story of how Humans and AI coinciding and trying to find their truths begin.

THE LITTLE MERMAID

And if you are in the mood for legacy content, check out “The Little Mermaid.” The animated classic launched the era of animation that would become known as the Disney Renaissance. It ushered in one of the most financially successful eras in Disney history. There is also a singalong version available on Disney+.

Those are my picks. What will you be watching this weekend?
