Disney has announced details on some of the panels and presentations at this year’s D23: The Ultimate Fan Event, which will take place from August 9th to 11th, 2024, at the Anaheim Convention Center and Honda Center in Anaheim, California.

The event will feature over 230 panels and presentations, show floor offerings, and Talent Central interactions. Many of them will focus on films and shows on Disney+ and Hulu. I’ve pulled out some of the panels that might be of interest to Disney+ and Hulu subscribers.

Disney hasn’t announced any details on what they will be live-streaming from the event.  During the previous D23 Expo’s, some panels were live-streamed on YouTube.  It’s likely we won’t know if we can watch any of these events from home until nearer the time.

In terms of announcements, there will likely be plenty of new previews and news revealed, but with Disney slowing down its release schedule and with many titles being delayed due to the pandemic and Hollywood strikes, it’s best to expect much less than previous events.

Friday 9th August 2024

Disney Entertainment Showcase – 7:00 pm-9:00 pm at Honda Center

This is the main event for fans of movies and shows, as those in attendance will get to enjoy the magic of Disney Entertainment in a star-studded showcase featuring exclusive looks at the movies, series, and stage shows you love, and a glimpse into what you can look forward to. Join some of your favourite stars as they give you a peek behind the curtain at upcoming projects, never-before-seen footage, surprise announcements, special guests, musical performances, and exclusive new content coming to the big screen, your small screens, and stages worldwide.

With this special presentation taking place in a major arena, there will likely be plenty of big names, trailers and first looks revealed.  However, it’s important to note that at the last D23 Expo, there were three different major presentations for shows and films, each over two hours long, so it’s likely we will see a lot less revealed, so set your expectations accordingly. 

Making A Goofy Movie: The Road to Lake Destiny – 5:00 pm-6:30 pm at Walt Disney Archives Stage

The creatives behind the A Goofy Movie phenomenon reunite, reminisce, and share clips from a new documentary about the incredible origin story of this beloved cult classic.

Behind the Summer Shenanigans with the Phineas and Ferb Creators – 10:15 am-11:15 am at Backlot Stage

Join Dan Povenmire and Jeff “Swampy” Marsh, the masterminds behind the beloved animated show Phineas and Ferb, as they look back at the creation and legacy of this pop culture phenomenon. Hear behind-the-scenes stories, and get ready to laugh!

National Geographic’s A Real Bug’s Life LIVE – 2:00 pm-2:45 pm at Hyperion Stage

Join insect experts and enthusiasts for a live show and tell of insects featured in National Geographic’s show A Real Bug’s Life, narrated by Awkwafina, with its second season coming soon.

From Book to Screen: How Best-Selling Novels Become Hit TV Series and Films – 5:15 pm-6:15 pm at Hyperion Stage

Join creators/producers from Hulu’s The Handmaid’s Tale, the Disney Original Movie Out of My Mind, the hit anthology series Goosebumps, and FX’s Shōgun as they discuss their creative processes and share how their teams and artists bring each story to life.

At select times throughout the weekend, Bluey and Bingo will be available for photos in the Disney+ Pavilion—for real life! Reservations are required for a chance to meet Bluey and Bingo.
