“UnPrisoned” Becomes Most Watch Onyx Collective Show On Hulu
Earlier this month, Disney’s Onyx Collective released a brand new series, “UnPrisoned”, which is inspired by the creators Tracy McMillan’s life, “Unprisoned” is a half-hour comedy about a messy but perfectionist relationship therapist and single mom whose life is turned right-side-up when her dad gets out of prison and moves in with her and her teenage son. The series stars Kerry Washington, Delroy Lindo and Faly Rakotohavana.
“UnPrisoned” was released on Disney’s streaming services around the world, including Star+ in Latin America, Hulu in the United States and on Disney+ around the world.
According to Deadline, the series has been a hit with viewers in the United States as the show has become Onyx Collective’s most-watched Hulu premiere to date. Other shows released by the Onyx Collective include “The 1619 Project”, and “Reasonable Doubt”. And the show is also the most-watched Hulu Original scripted series so far in 2023, in terms of hours watched, according to Onyx. However, it should be noted that Disney hasn’t released specific viewing metrics for the series.
Onyx Collective is a new content brand formed under Disney General Entertainment Content (DGE) designed to curate a slate of premium programming by creators of color and underrepresented voices. Onyx Collective ushers an exciting slate of content for a global audience, including “Summer of Soul (…Or, When the Revolution Could Not Be Televised)”; “The Hair Tales,” “Reasonable Doubt,” and “Aftershock”.
All eight episodes of “UnPrisoned” are available to stream now on Hulu in the US, Star+ in Latin America and Disney+ in all other territories.
