FOX has announced details on a brand-new adult animated series called “Universal Basic Guys”, which centers on brothers, Mark and Hank Hoagies, who, after losing their jobs at the hot dog factory to robots, are given $3,000 a month in a new basic income program. Now, they’re using their free time and free money to find purpose in a world where they’re no longer needed.

This season, Mark and Hank try to reconnect with their primal roots by purchasing an automatic heat-seeking crossbow to hunt deer; Mark buys a championship football ring on eBay and leverages it to get special treatment from his hometown team; and Mark wants to get Tammy a fancy exotic animal for their anniversary but can only afford a former laboratory chimpanzee, who promptly rips off his face.

“Universal Basic Guys” is created by Adam and Craig Malamut (Sports Friends, Game of Zones, The Champions), who are both executive producers for the series. Dan Lagana (American Vandal) is the executive producer and showrunner for Season One.

FOX has already given “Universal Basic Guys” an early Season Two renewal, and Rob Rosell (Dave, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia) will serve as executive producer and showrunner for Season Two.

The show is co-produced by FOX Entertainment through its Emmy Award-winning animation studio, Bento Box Entertainment and Sony Pictures Television.

This new animated series will premiere on Sunday, 8th September 2024, on the FOX channel following the FOX NFL doubleheader (8:00-8:30 PM ET/5:00-5:30 PM PT, live to all time zones).  New episodes will also be available the next day at Hulu and Hulu On Disney+, due to a multi-year output deal between Disney and FOX.  However, the series won’t be available on Disney+ internationally.
