It’s been a few years since we last saw Tom Holland suit up as your friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man in “No Way Home”, where we got to see a multiverse adventure involving Doctor Strange and alternative versions of “Spider-Man” taking on a rogue’s gallery of classic Spidey villains.

Since then, neither Sony nor Marvel have confirmed when we might see Spider-Man back on our screens, but recently, Tom Holland appeared on the The Rich Roll podcast, where he confirmed that he and Zendaya have read a draft for a fourth movie.

“We have a creative and a pitch and a draft which is excellent.  It needs work but the writers are doing a great job and I read it three weeks ago and it really lit a fire in me.

Zendaya and I sat down and read it together and we at times were like bouncing around the living room. Like this is a real movie worthy of the fans’ respect, but there [are] a few things we need to figure out before we can get that really going. But it’s exciting and I’m really, really excited about it.”

Tom also explained how he’s in a very different situation than when he first got the role, as he feels more pressure to make sure the story is right for the character and that he feels more ownership of the character now.   He also spoke about how he talks to Robert Downey Jr. for advice and explained how making Marvel films is very different to other projects:

“One of the things is that, with Marvel, your film is a small cog in a large machine. That machine has got to keep running. You have to make sure you can fit into that timeline at the right time to benefit the bigger picture. That’s one of the challenges we’re facing. The time in which we need to get that done is a tall order but definitely achievable with the people we have working on it now.”

During the interview, Tom also shared how he would love to do what Robert did for him, helping mentor a younger actor on board to play Miles Morales in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Marvel and Sony haven’t announced any details on a fourth “Spider-Man” film, but development is underway and we are also likely to see Tom Holland return for the upcoming Avengers films.

The hour-long interview covers many other topics, including Tom’s issues with alcohol and the launch of his new zero alcohol drink company.

You can catch Tom Holland in many of the Marvel films such as “Captain America: Civil War” and “Avengers: Infinity War” on Disney+ now.
