The second episode of the National Geographic series, “The World According To Jeff Goldblum”, focuses on Ice Cream.  Jeff Goldblum continues to show off his weird style as he learns how to make his own flavor, drive in a old fashioned ice cream truck, give out ice cream on a Navy ship and meet Ben ‘n’ Jerry.

This was an interesting episode for me, due to the subject matter, my family has been in the ice cream business for decades and I even used to drive a ice cream truck for a few years, so I was keen to see where this episode went.   And generally, it was much like ice cream, it doesn’t last long but it’s sweet and lovely.

Jeff’s interview style just never gets past the basic stuff that anyone would already know, with him just making noises in astonishment, like he’s just discovered everything for the first time.  While I enjoy watching Jeff Goldblum in action, it has to be in small doses.  If you don’t like him, this series just won’t work for you.  But if you enjoy his quirky style, this episode is fun and light hearted.

There are many different ways Jeff explores the world of ice cream in this episode, some more interesting that others, like visiting the Navy ship, but seeing him walk around trying to find flavors in a forest just seemed unnecessary.  I didn’t really learn anything new, but had a few chuckles along the way, especially the last scene.
