“The Weekenders” Finally Coming To Disney+

Way back in 2019, just after Disney+ initially launched in November, Disney announced via Twitter that the hit animated series “The Weekenders”, would soon be coming to Disney+.

Amazing news!!! The Weekenders yr 1 and yr 2 (episodes 1-39) are scheduled to be added shortly. At the moment we don’t have an exact date but please stay posted as we continue to expand.
As Fairy Godmother always says “Even miracles take a little time”

“The Weekenders” follows the weekend adventures of four diverse, twelve-year-old best friends—Tino, Lor, Carver, and Tish—living in Bahia Bay, California. Setting the show entirely over Friday afternoon to Sunday evening, the episodes capture the group navigating social dilemmas, family antics, and middle school woes before facing the looming “ticking clock” of Monday morning.

Now, almost seven years later, Disney has finally followed through on that initial announcement and revealed that the first two seasons of “The Weekenders” will be coming to Disney+ on May 25th 2026, as part of its summer Throwbacks campaign.

The show originally ran from 2000 through to 2004, with 39 episodes across four seasons on the ABC, UPN and Toon Disney channels. It was created by Doug Langdale and directed by Steve Lyons. The show starred Grey DeLisle, Lisa Kaplan, Phil LaMarr, Jason Marsden and Kath Soucie.

Roger’s Take: It’s unbelievable that Disney took almost seven years to finally get this show on Disney+, and I know it’s been one of the most requested shows by Disney fans for years.  When Disney initially announced this via one of its Disney+ Twitter accounts, we had very few details on the streaming service, and things kept changing.  It didn’t take Disney to stop using its social media accounts to promise upcoming content that wasn’t fully locked into place.

Are you looking forward to finally watching “The Weekenders” on Disney+? Let me know on social media!
