“The Secret Life Of Mormon Wives” Executive Teases Second Season
Earlier this month, Disney released a brand new reality series called “The Secret Life of Mormon Wives”, which tells the story of the scandalous world of a group of Mormon mom influencers implodes when they get caught in the midst of a swinging sex scandal that makes international headlines. Now, their sisterhood is shook to its core. Faith, friendship and reputations are all on the line. Will #MomTok be able to survive and continue to give the rulebook a run for its money, or will this group fall from grace?
This new series has been a huge smash hit for Disney, with the show becoming the most-watched unscripted season premiere this year on Hulu and Disney+, beating out the most recent season of “The Kardashians”.
Following the release of this new series, the show’s producer, Jeff Jenkins, spoke with Vanity Fair, where he spoke about his hopes for a second season.
“My hope is that Jen and Zac will be back if there is a season two, and that they both learned from what they went through and what they shared in season one. That they can keep growing and working through their challenges and stay together and stay strong. To Zac’s credit, and I haven’t spoken to him directly, but I have heard through the grapevine that he is glad that he did the project. He’s watched the episodes, and there are some things he wants to change.”
He added that with so much drama unfolding daily on the cast’s TikTok accounts, they’ll have someone working on monitoring those accounts for the show.
“That is a paid position, to monitor story, what’s going on. Believe me—if we get a season two, the second we get it, we will head out and start shooting again. There’s some incredibly intense, jaw-dropping stuff that we didn’t even get to.”
The series is produced by Jeff Jenkins Productions (‘Bling Empire,’ ‘The McBee Dynasty,’ ‘My Unorthodox Life’), in association with 3BMG and Walt Disney Television Alternative . Executive producers are Jeff Jenkins, Russell Jay-Staglik, Andrea Metz, Brandon Beck and Eric Monsky at Jeff Jenkins Productions, Ross Weintraub and Reinout Oerlemans at 3BMG, and Danielle Pistotnik, Georgia Berger, and Lisa Filipelli at Select Management Group.
Roger’s Take: There certainly sounds like there’s plenty more scandal for audiences to see and judging on how many viewers the show has pulled in, I’ve little doubt that the executives at Disney are trying to get a deal for a second season of “The Secret Life of Mormon Wives” folllowing the successful launch. Hopefully we get an update on this in the future.
The first season of “The Secret Life of Mormon Wives” is available to stream now on Hulu and Hulu On Disney+ in the United States and on Disney+ around the world.
