Today, the first three episodes of the third and final season of the animated series, “Star Wars: The Bad Batch”, were released on Disney+ around the world, and if that’s not enough Star Wars content for you, then it might not be too long under the next live-action series arrives on Disney+.

According to Collider, the next live-action Star Wars series to be released on Disney+ is “The Acolyte”, which will be launching this coming summer and is apparently slated to debut on Disney+ on June 5th 2024.  It’s worth pointing out that this date hasn’t been officially announced and could change since it’s still several months away, and as with all schedules lately, things can change.

“The Acolyte” will take viewers into a galaxy of shadowy secrets and emerging dark-side powers in the final days of the High Republic era. A former Padawan reunites with her Jedi Master to investigate a series of crimes but discovers the forces they confront are more sinister than they ever anticipated. The show will star Amandla Stenberg, Lee Jung-jae, Manny Jacinto, Dafne Keen, Charlie Barnett, Jodie Turner-Smith, Rebecca Henderson, Dean-Charles Chapman, Joonas Suotamo,  Carrie-Anne Moss and Margarita Levieva.

The upcoming series has been created by Leslye Headland, who is the showrunner and is also writing, directing and executive producing the show.  Also executive producing the show are Katheleen Kennedy, Simon Emanuel, Jeff F. King and Jason Micallef. Rayne Roberts and Damian Anderson produce.

It’s also been revealed that Michael Abels will be composing the music for the show.  Michael has previously worked on “Get Out”, “Us” and “Nope”.

With “The Bad Batch” being released weekly until the start of May and then with the May 4th celebrations with the re-release of “Star Wars: Episode 1: The Phantom Menace” in cinemas.  Having “Star Wars: The Acolyte” come out on Disney+ over the summer months makes sense, with “The Skeleton Crew” series arriving much later in the year.
