While we’ve been getting plenty of Star Wars content on Disney+, with shows such as “The Mandalorian”, “Obi-Wan Kenobi”, and “The Book Of Boba Fett”, its been years since we last saw a Star Wars film released in cinemas and it’s going to be a couple more years until we get the next one.

One of the many Star Wars films currently in development is being created by Taika Waititi, who has directed “Thor: Ragnarok” and the upcoming “Thor: Love & Thunder”, in addition to directing an episode of “The Mandalorian” and providing the voices of “IG-11” in the Disney+ series.

Since it was announced that Taika Waititi was creating a new Star Wars film, fans have been excited to learn more about the project.  Especially as the previously announced “Rogue Squadron” film, which is going to be directed by “Wonder Woman’s” Patty Jenkins, has been delayed.

Recently, during an interview with Screen Rant, Taika Waititi provided a small update on the film:

That’s yet to be seen. I don’t know. I’m still writing. I’m still coming up with the ideas and storylining it and just wanted to make sure that it feels like a Star Wars film.

Because, I could say, “Oh yeah, we’ll just write any old thing and set in space and then put Star Wars on the front.” But it wouldn’t be a Star Wars film without certain elements and a certain treatment, so I’ve just got to make sure that it stays within that wheelhouse.

Unfortunately, we didn’t hear anything about any upcoming Star Wars films at last month’s Star Wars Celebration event. However, hopefully, we will find out some more details soon, though it sounds like these films are still very much in the early stages of development and are a while off-hitting out screens.

Are you looking forward to the return of Star Wars on the big screen?
