Taika Waititi Developing New Movie “Barn 8”

Disney has worked with Taika Waititi on many projects over the years, including “Thor: Ragnarok”, “Jojo Rabbit”, “What We Do In The Shadows” and many more.

The latest project that Taika will be working on, is a new adaptation of the satirical novel by Deb Olin Unferth, called “Barn 8”.

The book tells the story of two auditors for the U.S. egg industry, who go rogue and conceive a plot to steal a million chickens in the middle of the night–an entire egg farm’s worth of animals. Janey and Cleveland–a spirited former runaway and the officious head of audits–assemble a precarious, quarrelsome team and descend on the farm on a dark spring evening. A series of catastrophes ensues.

According to Deadline, Searchlight Pictures is creating the film, which is based on a script by Jessica Gao, who previously worked on Marvel’s Disney+ Original series, “She-Hulk: Attorney at Law”. It will be produced by Gotham Group’s Eric Robinson and Ellen Goldsmith-Vein, along with Waititi Productions’ Taika Waititi, Ishi Metkar and Michelle Chan. Searchlight SVP Production Taylor Friedman and VP Production Pete Spencer will oversee the project.

No other details on the project have been revealed, such as who will be starring in it or when it will be released, either first in cinemas or directly onto Disney+.
