Disney is currently developing a brand new series for Disney+ called “The Muppets Mayhem,” which is a comedy series starring the world-famous Muppets.
The series will take audiences on a music-filled journey as, at long last, The Electric Mayhem Band records its first-ever album. Lilly Singh (“A Little Late with Lilly Singh,” “Dollface.”) will play the (human) lead role of “Nora”, the junior A&R executive tasked with managing and wrangling the mayhem that is The Electric Mayhem Band.
The Electric Mayhem Band includes Dr. Teeth (Bill Barretta) on vocals and keyboards, Animal (Eric Jacobson) on drums, Floyd Pepper (Matt Vogel) on vocals and bass, Janice (David Rudman) on vocals and lead guitar, Zoot (Dave Goelz) on saxophone and Lips (Peter Linz) on trumpet.
According to Variety, Tahj Mowry will also be starring Disney+ series, where he will be playing the role of Gary “Moog” Moogowski, who is described as a lovably awkward die-hard superfan of the band. He loyally follows them from gig to gig. Moog is an avid audiophile who knows his way around a mixing board. Since he is a walking encyclopedia of the band, he’s often able to offer advice or guidance to Nora (Lilly Singh) when she’s having trouble wrangling, communicating with or even understanding them. As Moog continues to work closely with Nora, he begins to hope that maybe she’ll see him less as a goofy sidekick and more as a leading man.
Tahj Mowry has previously starred in the WB series “Smart Guy” and the Freeform series, “Baby Daddy.
The series was developed by Adam F. Goldberg, Bill Barretta and Jeff Yorkes based on characters created by Jim Henson. It is written by Adam F. Goldberg (“The Goldbergs”), Bill Barretta (“The Muppets,” “Muppets Haunted Mansion”) and Jeff Yorkes, the executive producers are Goldberg, Barretta, Michael Bostick and Kris Eber. Yorkes is a co-executive producer. The Muppets Studio’s David Lightbody and Leigh Slaughter are also executive producers.
The Disney Branded Television series is produced by ABC Signature and The Muppets Studio for Disney+.
