20th Television is developing a brand-new drama series called “Interior Chinatown”, which is being created by Taika Waititi and Charles Yu, who wrote the 2020 bestselling book of the same name. It will star Jimmy O. Yang, Ronny Chieng and Chloe Bennett.
“Interior Chinatown” follows the story of Willis Wu (played by Jimmy O. Yang), a background character trapped in a police procedural show, trying to find his way into the larger story–and along the way, discovers secrets about the strange world he inhabits and his family’s buried history.
According to Deadline, Sullivan Jones and Lisa Gilroy have joined the cast and will play the roles of Miles Turner and Sarah Green, who are the two lead detectives on the procedural crime show “Black & White”.
Miles Turner is an expert at making flashy arrests—whenever he’s not bantering with his longtime partner Sarah Green—Turner’s seemingly perfect exterior masks someone more complex. Ambitious and hyper-competent. While Sarah Green is indisputably the best detective on the force, but somehow still finds herself always fighting for the light behind Turner’s shadow.
Sullivan Jones has previously starred in FX’s “Atlanta” and HBO’s “The Gilded Age”. Miles Turner has previously starred in the Netflix series, “Glamourous”.
Taika Waititi is an executive producer on the show and will be directing the pilot. Charles Yu, will also be an executive producer and the showrunner of the series. Other executive producers include Dan Lin, Lindsey Liberatore, Elsie Choi, Jeff Skoll, Miura Kite and Garrett Basch.
The series will be released on Hulu in the United States, and expect to see it released internationally as a Star Original on Star+ in Latin America and on Disney+ around the world.
