During the Lucasfilm Studio Showcase at the Star Wars Celebration event in London, some new details were revealed about the upcoming Disney+ series, “The Acolyte”

The new series is being created by Leslye Headland, who is the showrunner, and she joined Kathleen Kennedy on stage to discuss the new series. Headland was escorted onto the stage by Kelnacca, a Wookiee Jedi from the series, and offered an overview of the new mystery-thriller. “The Acolyte” will take viewers into a galaxy of shadowy secrets and emerging dark-side powers in the final days of the High Republic era. A former Padawan reunites with her Jedi Master to investigate a series of crimes but discovers the forces they confront are more sinister than they ever anticipated.

Joining Headland and Kennedy on stage were the series’ stars—Amandla Stenberg, Lee Jung-jae, Manny Jacinto, Dafne Keen, Charlie Barnett, Jodie Turner-Smith, Rebecca Henderson, Dean-Charles Chapman and “Star Wars” veteran Joonas Suotamo, who plays Kelnacca. The series stars Carrie-Anne Moss and Margarita Levieva and is currently in production. In addition to writing and directing, Headland serves as an executive producer with Kennedy, Simon Emanuel, Jeff F. King and Jason Micallef. Rayne Roberts and Damian Anderson produce.

Guests in attendance got to see some footage from the series, which showcased how the show is set hundreds of years before “The Phantom Menace”, which has lots of Jedi’s and honestly, the footage gave me goosebumps while watching it.

The series is currently just in the last stages of filming and is scheduled to finish in May before requiring more special effects work.  Headland also revealed that she had submitted the first four episodes to Kathleen Kennedy.

It was also announced that “The Acolyte” will stream exclusively on Disney+ in 2024.
