One of 2022’s biggest new Disney+ series will be “Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi”, which is set 10 years after the dramatic events of “Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith” where Kenobi faced his greatest defeat, the downfall and corruption of his best friend and Jedi apprentice, Anakin Skywalker, who turned into evil Sith Lord Darth Vader.  This new series will also mark the return of Hayden Christensen in the role of Darth Vader.

Recently, it was revealed by Variety, that Lucasfilm brought in some real fans to play extras in the new series.

While speaking on Variety’s Podcast, Maya Erskine, the “Pen15” co-creator and co-star who will be appearing in the “Star Wars” Disney+ series,

 

“The extras were incredible on the set, and a lot of them were mega ‘Star Wars’ fans.  One guy, he was so nice and he lifted up his sleeves and had ‘Star Wars’ tattoos over his whole body. And they build droids. There are lot of ‘Star Wars’ fans that build droids, and then the production companies will rent [them] from the fans.”

“Obi-Wan Kenobi” is directed by Deborah Chow, director of two critically acclaimed episodes of “The Mandalorian,” Season 1.

Also starring in the Kenobi series are Moses Ingram, Joel Edgerton, Bonnie Piesse, Kumail Nanjiani, Indira Varma, Rupert Friend, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Sung Kang, Simone Kessell and Benny Safdie.

Maya couldn’t share much more on the new Disney+ series but did add:

Deborah Chow is an amazing director. The cast was incredible. It was so fun to do.  My brother, who’s a mega fan, was like, ‘If you don’t take this, I will disown you. You have to be part of this universe.’”

“Obi-Wan Kenobi” will be available exclusively on Disney+ in 2022.
