During the Lucasfilm Studio showcase panel at the Star Wars Celebration event being held at the Excel Center in London, England, more details on the upcoming second season of “Andor” were revealed.

Lucasfilm’s Kathleen Kennedy spoke about the success of the highly acclaimed Disney+ original series “Star Wars: Andor”, and was joined on the stage by the series’ director/creator/showrunner Tony Gilroy and stars Diego Luna, Adria Arjona, Kyle Soller, Denise Gough, Genevieve O’Reilly, Andy Serkis, Muhannad Bahair and Joplin Sibtain, who were accompanied by droid B2EMO.

Fans in attendance were treated to an exclusive first look at the second and final season, which is currently in production until August this year.  The final season will chronicle the next steps in Andor’s journey over the next four years in the build-up to the events of “Rogue One” as he fights to assemble a fledgling resistance, with each three-episode block representing a year.

With filming due to finish in August, Tony Gilroy revealed that it’d take about a year of post-production and should line up with how the timings for the first season arrived on Disney+, about a year after they finished shooting.  So it’s likely we will see “Andor” season two arrive on Disney+ in August or September 2024.

There was also a separate “Making Of “Andor”” Panel during the afternoon, which was also attended by Tony Gilroy, Kathleen Kennedy and Diego Luna, were they went into more detail about how they made the first season and showed the “Andor” season 2 sizzle reel to those in attendance again.  The good news, was that the “Making Of” panel was streamed online for everyone to enjoy.

Kathleen Kennedy, Tony Gilroy, Sanne Wohlenberg, Diego Luna and Luke Hull are executive producing the upcoming season exclusively for Disney+.

During the event, hundreds of fans dressed up as prisoners from the Narkina 5 prison and took part in many photo opportunities with other attendees, including Diego Luna.

Here are some photos from the event:
