As 2022 comes to a close, it’s time to take a look forward at some of the new original programming coming to Disney+ in the United Kingdom and Ireland in 2023.  There are plenty of new shows to look forward to, especially from the general entertainment side of the Walt Disney Company, which includes ABC, FX and 20th Television, which include some brand new British-made shows.

Here’s a preview of some of the titles coming to Disney+ in the UK and Ireland in 2023:

Ten years ago, everyone over the age of 18 got their superpower. But Jen, a painfully self-aware 25-year-old woman, is still waiting to get hers. She’d take anything at this point. Adrift in a big, confusing world and armed with nothing but a bit of hope, a lot of desperation and her flatmates, Jen begins her journey to find her maybe-superpower.

“Extraordinary” is coming to Disney+ in January 2023.

Koala Man

Koala Man” follows middle-aged dad Kevin and his titular not-so-secret identity, whose only superpower is a burning passion for following rules and snuffing out petty crime in the town of Dapto. Though it may seem like any other Australian suburb, forces of evil both cosmic and man-made lie in wait to pounce on unsuspecting Daptonians. On a quest to clean up his hometown, and often roping his frustrated family into his adventures, Koala Man stands at the ready. He’ll do whatever it takes to defeat villainous masterminds, supernatural horrors, or worse: jerks who don’t take their rubbish bins down on the proper days.

“Koala Man” is coming to Disney+ in the UK and Ireland on Monday, 9th January 2023.

A sprawling true-crime saga, “Welcome to Chippendales” tells the outrageous story of Somen “Steve” Banerjee, an Indian immigrant who became the unlikely founder of the world’s greatest male-stripping empire – and let nothing stand in his way in the process.

“Welcome To Chippendales” is coming to Disney+ in the UK and Ireland on 11th January 2023.

“Fleishman Is In Trouble” is the story of recently divorced 41-year-old ‘Toby Fleishman’ (Jesse Eisenberg), who dives into the brave new world of app-based dating with the kind of success he never had dating in his youth, before he got married at the tail end of medical school.

“Fleishman Is In Trouble” is coming to Disney+ in the UK and Ireland on February 22nd 2023.

Almost twenty-five years on from the BAFTA-winning film, the limited series will follow the original band of brothers as they navigate the post-industrial city of Sheffield and society’s crumbling healthcare, education and employment sectors. The series will explore the brighter, sillier and more humane way forward where communal effort can still triumph over adversity.

TELL ME LIES S2  (Season 1 Available Now)

The first season followed a tumultuous but intoxicating relationship as it unfolded over the course of 8 years. When Lucy Albright (Grace Van Patten, “Nine Perfect Strangers”) and Stephen DeMarco (Jackson White, “Mrs. Fletcher”) meet at college, they are at a formative age when seemingly mundane choices lead the way to irrevocable consequences. Although their relationship begins like any typical campus romance, they quickly fall into an addictive entanglement that will permanently alter not only their lives, but the lives of everyone around them.

Culprits follows what happens after a heist, when the crew have gone their separate ways, but are being targeted by a killer one-by-one.

England, 1705. Framed for murder and on the run with her sisters, Nell Jackson turns her hand to highway robbery to survive.  Aided by her superpowered sidekick, a plucky little sprite called Billy Blind, Nell realises that fate has put her on the wrong side of the law for a reason, a reason much bigger than she could have ever imagined: to defeat a magical plot against the Queen of England.

ABBOT ELEMENTARY S2 (Season One Available Now)

A workplace comedy following a group of dedicated, passionate teachers — and a slightly tone-deaf principal —as they navigate the Philadelphia public school system. Despite the odds stacked against them, they are determined to help their students succeed in life, and though these incredible public servants may be outnumbered and underfunded, they love what they do — even if they don’t love the school district’s less-than-stellar attitude toward educating children.

Finding Michael, from Shine TV, part of Banijay UK, is an emotionally driven, feature-length original documentary. In 1999, Michael Matthews became the youngest Briton to summit Mount Everest. But three hours after he reached the top of the world, aged just 22, he disappeared into blinding snow and his body has never been found.  23 years later, his brother British entrepreneur and broadcaster Spencer Matthews sets out on a journey to Everest to find Michael.

And these are only some of the great programming coming to Disney+ in 2023, as there is much more to come, including more Star Originals and plenty of Disney+ Originals like “Secret Invasion” and the return of “The Mandalorian”.
