Disney has announced that the second chapter in the Oscar-winning Spider-Verse saga, “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse”, is going to be coming to Disney+ in the United States on Thursday 1st May 2025.

After reuniting with Gwen Stacy, Brooklyn’s full-time, friendly neighborhood Spider-Man is catapulted across the Multiverse, where he encounters a team of Spider-People charged with protecting its very existence. But when the heroes clash on how to handle a new threat, Miles finds himself pitted against the other Spiders and must redefine what it means to be a hero so he can save the people he loves most.

The film stars Shameik Moore, Hailee Steinfeld, and Brian Tyree Henry, along with Luna Lauren Velez, Jake Johnson, Oscar Isaac, Jason Schwartzman, Issa Rae, Daniel Kaluuya, and Karan Soni.

It was directed by Joaquim Dos Santos, Kemp Powers, and Justin K. Thompson. The screenplay has been written by
Phil Lord & Christopher Miller, and David Callaham.

Sony Pictures Animation created the film and distributed it, this is why it didn’t come straight to Disney+ after its theatrical release.  Disney has a multi-year deal for the Pay 2 window rights in the United States to Sony’s theatrical releases from 2022 through 2026. Netflix’s Pay 1 window for the film is set to expire later this month, and the movie will be removed from the platform on April 26th, 2025.

Internationally, “Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse” won’t be coming to Disney+ at the same time, as the current deal with Sony only applies to the United States.
